I think of Henry Ford as two men. A make of cars and a business man. He also had some great one liners. For example, "The most beautiful things in the world are those from which all excess weight has been removed."" My favoruite is "You can have any color Ford, as long as it is black."
This makes me wonder: Why do Ford today sell non-black cars? Did Henry Ford change his mind, in response to market pressure? Was he outvoted within Ford? Perhaps he simply retired or died, and then company policy changed.
Um, "Political Correctness" isn't politically correct. Why bring everyone down to a single level of, say, education? Why not let everyone go as far in education as they can go? Why force a label on people who don't use it themselves?
The jokes in XMAS crackers should be crap. Where else are crap jokes going to be employed? Would you really like to see crap jokes turning up in other places, where you might instead expect to find a good joke?
I sometimes hear/read that nobody understands what the film 2001: A Space Odyssey is about. One critic claimed that "even the most devoted disciples are hard pressed to tell you what it's actually about." I guess they can't really be "devoted disciples", because they've not even read the novel, never mind Clarke's non-fiction "Lost Worlds of 2001".
Tsk.
Most of us today are using operating systems and programming languages (or software written in those languages) that were originally designed for machines with several orders of magnitude less memory than is currently available.
Looking ahead 10 years, we can add a few more orders of magnitude. Why then should we be suprised that today's software performs so badly, or that so many of us complain about "bloatware"?
While her songs usually have little appeal for me, I find that I'm strangely attracted to Madonna's songs of 1999.
Anyway, in "Ray of Light" it sounds like she's singing about Anna Friel.
There should be a Celebrity Shopping Channel for celebs who want to sell some of their old belongings. Imagine, for example, Elton John flogging his fabulous costumes...
"You can never browse enough."
